Located on beautiful South Bass Island, the Village of Put in Bay is a vacation destination to over 750,000 tourists each year.  Visitors gravitate to the island annually to enjoy the splendor of the natural harbor, fish the abundant waters of Lake Erie, participate in geological explorations, discover a large variety of migratory and native species unique to the area, learn about the historical significance of Put-in-Bay, and enjoy all the tourist attractions found throughout South Bass Island.  

  • Step back in time with Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to learn about the Battle of Lake Erie at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial and the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Museums.
  • Take in the magnificence of our island sunsets while strolling along our beautiful downtown harbor and DeRivera park area.
  • Recreational boaters can dock in the heart of it all and are just steps away from fabulous boutiques, excellent restaurants, live music and spirited taverns.
  • Explore the world’s largest geode at Crystal Cave or discover South Bass Island’s underground river in Perry’s Cave.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a multitude of other attractions, including a winery, butterfly house, playgrounds, miniature golf, historical homes, chocolate museum, wildlife museum, antique carousel, a nine hole golf course, jet-ski rentals, parasailing, kayaking, and a convention center.

The police department includes a dispatch department, which dispatches for the various emergency services of Put-in-Bay, including the Put-in-Bay Police, Fire and EMS.
